Origin of AWCD
The formation of Agency for Women and Child Development was originally conceived at a conference held in Phoenix, Arizona in 1997 by a group of professionals exploring practical ways to alleviate abject poverty among women and children in the United States and third world countries. The organization was officially registered and incorporated in 2001 as a non-governmental, nonprofit, publicly supported charitable organization in the State of Arizona and tax-exempt under the provisions of section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code.
